The book opens with a Syrian family moving into a neighborhood. Initially, they are faced with some subtle opposition and ignorance. The two main characters Bassem and Rima are teenagers who attend the local high school. They are befriended by some students are a part of a school service club. After joining the club, Bassem and Rima come up with an idea to have the club host a community day event. With the inclusion of different races, religions, and ethnicities the community recognizes what makes our country is our diversity. The book is meant to inspire people to join a service organization to make their community and the world a better place for all.
